AVIA Air - Aircraft Hangar
This project involves the design, supply and installation of a new 17m wide x 5m high motorised bi-folding overhead hangar door for the AVIA Air Hangar at Hamilton Airport.
The new door will replace the previous overhead door system, which was removed following significant storm damage.
The proposed bi-fold door will provide a robust and practical long-term solution suited to the large opening and operational requirements of an aircraft hangar.
The door will be electrically motorised to provide reliable and efficient operation, allowing the large opening to be opened and secured with minimal operator effort.
A key consideration of the design is to maximise both the clear opening width and clear opening height available within the existing hangar structure.
This will ensure the greatest possible clearance for aircraft movements and provide unrestricted access into and out of the hangar while minimising
intrusion of the door structure and operating equipment into the usable opening.
The door will be finished with Colorsteel exterior cladding, providing a durable, low-maintenance external finish suitable for the exposed airport
environment and selected to complement the existing hangar building.
The completed installation will provide AVIA Air with a purpose-built, heavy-duty aircraft hangar door system, combining a large clear opening,
motorised operation, durable construction and weather-resistant cladding to restore the hangar opening following the storm damage and support the ongoing operational requirements of the facility.
