Information

Glideaway Industrial sectional doors are truly distinctive and unparalleled in quality and design. Glideaway's diverse product range will fulfill any and all industrial or commercial requirements.

Sectional doors:

  • Are more economical
  • Provide a better seal when closed
  • Do not require the side space of sliding doors
  • Do not limit the clear height like bi-folding doors
  • With the correct head height, when door is open it is completely clear of the opening, giving maximum height and width

Because of the strength and type of operation sectional doors are far more difficult to break into than other types. These doors cannot be forced open by twisting as is possible with tilting type doors.

Sectional doors have become more widely used in a variety of industrial and commercial buildings because of their distinctive features

Other Options:

  • Wicket gates
  • Mullions
  • Security Grilles
  • Ventalated

Panels

All of our zincalume (High-Tensile steel), aluminium or Coloursteel® panels are roll-formed to produce a very strong panel design. Panels have spot welded bracing for a stronger, quieter and cleaner panel.

We also offer corrugated panels, available in either steel or aluminium. These panels are folded using an air-press. For more information on our corrugated panels please view below.

We have a large range of styles available for our roll-formed panels:

List of styles available are:

  • Ribbed
  • Ribbed, Rustic
  • Ribbed, Styleline
  • Ribbed, Styleline, Woodgrain
  • Raised Panel, Woodgrain
  • Ribbed Aluminium
  • Corrugated

A 'bulb' type weather seal is fitted to the bottom of every panel to close against the floor surface.

Door panels seal behind jambs against mohair strips. This makes the door bird and rodent proof and also greatly reduces draughts and rattling, common with other types of door.

The total depth of a corrugated panel is 65mm which makes it a very strong and rigid door. Each panel joins and weatherseals neatly to the next, without any untidy flashings or exposed sharp metal edges. This type of panel gives very good protection against wind, rain and dirt.

The maximum panel width available in this system is 5.180m although we do offer alternative methods for construction of wider panels.

Glazing

We offer a large range of glazing options for your door - from single panel aluminium sashes to multiple panel-high, perfect for Fire & Ambulance stations as well as showrooms, cafes etc.

Choosing to put a glazing option in your door can greatly increase the internal lighting conditions, without having to open the door. They are also excellent for visitor identification.

We can provide glazing in either acrylic or glass and in a number of different colours and styles.

All panel sections are custom built to your size and requirements.

  • Sections are 50mm thick
  • Constructed from aluminium extrusions, produced from 6063 alloy
  • Bottom rail and edge styles on each door use 100mm wide extrusion
  • All other styles and rails are 40mm wide extrusion
  • Aluminium extrusion is available in either mill finish/anodised finish or powdercoated to customers requirements
  • Hardware and fittings can be powdercoated if required (this is an optional extra)

Glazing material options:

  • Acrylic
  • Standard glass
  • Toughened glass
  • Wide range of colour options available in both acrylic or glass
  • Panels can be substitued with 3mm thick aluminium panel
  • In larger doors alloy panels may be necessary in bottom section to increase strength

Fitting

Tracks and hardware provided with all sectional doors are made of quality galvanised steel and are engineered for smooth reliable operation. Each individual section is supported on rollers running in a strong galvanised track either side of the opening, thus distributing the overall weight and reducing wear and tear on all moving parts.

Doors are supplied with anti-sag torsion bars as required to keep door panels rigid. This makes doors substantially stronger than other types of doors and resists the tendency to 'blow in'. Torsion bars are roll-formed with tongue and groove joint for closure between sections. An optional foam seal is available for each join.

Where doors are wider and require maximum strength we use a double hinge system. This helps increase door life and has improved operation. Hinges have a solid brass pin and nylon bushes for roller axles for smoother and quieter operation.

Operation

All sectional doors provided by us are able to be used manually. Even on the highest and widest of doors the spring tensioning system allows doors to be opened and closed quickly and easily by hand without noise or effort.

Chain operation systems are available and are recommended on larger door openings.

A range of automatic door operators are available to suit every installation.

GDS doors offer both extension and overhead torsion counter balance spring systems giving a choice to suit every application.
